OPN, the Optometric Professional Network, was founded in 2007 with the goal of promoting and supporting private practice optometry. The non-profit organization was founded by greater Houston area optometrists. Membership has continued to grow among independent optometrists in the greater Houston community.
Providing local optometrists with practice resources, vendor rebates, and continuing education to promote and support private practice optometry in the greater Houston, Texas area.
Supporting Our Members
OPN supports its Members through negotiated competitive vendor discounts and quality continuing education opportunities. In 2014 OPN partnered with PECAA, a doctor alliance group created to protect and support independent optometry, as a means to provide greater practice management solutions to Members on a national level. This partnership has aided in the continued growth and success of OPN.
Membership requirements include that the licensed doctor and office must not pay any fees or profit share to a separate entity to practice under a corporate name. If you meet this criteria and are interested in Membership, please contact:
Meet the Board of Directors
Dr. Lisa Thomas, O.D.
Dr. Thomas established her practice, Eyes & Optics of Pearland, because of her commitment not to compromise on patient’s ocular health. Dr. Lisa Thomas, practices as a Therapeutic Optometrist and is also a Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She received her Bachelors of Science from the University of Houston, served as the Pre-Optometry President on campus and in that year, raised membership and awareness of the field to the highest since its conception. Her doctoral studies were finished in 2005 at Nova Southeastern College of Optometry, one of only 17 schools in the nation for optometry. She served as class President and has won several clinical excellence awards. Her extensive training includes the VA of Gainesville, inner-city Broward clinics, contact lens specialty training, pediatrics, and general optometry.
In her spare time, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending time with her husband Bobby, and their two dogs Nate and Sammy. She is also active at her church where she sings with the band. Family is vital, and she credits her passions and ability to love life and serve others from her parents.
Alireza Somji, O.D.
Houston PECAA Regional Leader
Dr. Somji is truly a global person. He was born in and grew up in Southern Africa, where he spent many years before moving to Houston for further education. He graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry and has extensive experiences in ocular disease management and vision care. Dr. Somji enjoys fitting patients in specialty contact lens designs which include scleral lenses and ortho-k/corneal refractive therapy contact lenses. He is a Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, and is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board.
He is a proud member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. During his training at UH College of Optometry, Dr. Somji was awarded several awards for outstanding leadership ability, and is a lifetime member of the prestigious Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. He is also proud to be the only Optometrist on the Sugar Land Skeeters medical team! Dr. Somji has worked at the Texas Eye Research and Technology Center as a clinical contact lens investigator. He believes in student outreach and has guest lectured at the Student Optometric Practice Management Association and has served in an ambassadorial role to optometry school students in Texas on behalf of The Vision Council; a non-profit organization.
Outside of the office, along with his wife Dr. Sana Somji who is also an optometrist, he enjoys spending time with his two boys, traveling, outdoor adventure activities and playing soccer! He is an avid soccer fan and supports Liverpool Football Club. He also enjoys watching the Houston Rockets
